Our quarantine project is finally complete & I'm so excited to share it with you today.
Back in April, during week four of our quarantine, we decided to start a painting project. We taped off the back bedroom, laid plastic down and....started to paint the front door instead. Apparently, we weren't ready to take on another room. Besides, I was so sick of our RED door.
There was a time in my life when red was my favorite color. I had the red accent wall, I rocked the red heels, I even rocked the red lipstick too. I have grown away from that vibrant shade into neutral land. If 18 year old me would have walked through our house when we purchased it, she would have been so giddy & excited. However, 29 year old me decided the first three things we'd be changing was the red door, the red kitchen & the bright yellow sunroom.

My attempt at a cute front doormat.
There is nothing wrong with a red door. It's just not my personal preference right now. I had my heart set on a black door, but that was out of the question at the time for my husband. He thought a black door might bring bad luck much like a black cat...which by the way is not true. Black cats take 2-3x more longer to get adopted from a shelter because of this stereotype. Keep that in mind when you are looking to add a fur friend to your family.
He has also come around on the black door...so I will most likely have a follow-up post once it's been repainted... Anyways, we decided on this beautiful shade of blue called Smokey Pitch. We purchased a gallon of the Valspar Season Plus (semi-gloss/exterior) & began painting.

I also painted the trim and the porch railing. We just purchased a quart of the exterior in Ultra White.
I just love how it turned out. I obviously needed some furniture and plants added to the space, so here is what I did:
Added flowers, to the hanging baskets
Added a spring/summer wreath

Replaced the plaid rug with one that extended the entire length of the door and the side panels

Added matching planters that were gifted by a friend. (I had full intention to turn them into a diy project but found that I really just loved them how they were. The only thing I added to them were my Boston Ferns.)
I had a few recycled plant stands that were gifted to me by my mom's fiance. I updated them with a few coats of Rust-oleum in the shade Burnished Amber & now they look brand new. I added my pothos to them.
My copper watering can has rusted out the bottom slightly so I only use it outside now because it leaks. Its new home is on our front porch.

My Yucca tree has spent its summers on a shaded porch the last few years. Thankfully, we still have some shade in our new home.

My grandma gifted me this bistro set a few years ago. My grandpa had spotted it at an auction and had to have it! I went back & forth between the Burnished Amber & the Copper color and ultimately decided on the Burnished Amber because it was more timeless.

Before

After
I added some more pothos & this really cute watering can pot to this set. I actually found the watering can in the garage left by the previous owner & decided to give it an update with the copper spray paint.

All in all, I am so pleased with my DIY projects & love how it all came together! I was able to flip this front door for under $100!
Here is the breakdown:
Paint $38
Plaid mat $18
Wreath $15
Door handles $15
Copper Spray Paint $6
Burnished Amber Spray Paint $6
